Relaxation, culture and shopping at the Hotel Winzer
A haven for wellness getaways and city breaks
Spring rolls out the red carpet for us so we can enjoy blossoms, sunshine and positive vibes. The Hotel Winzer on Lake Attersee in the Salzkammergut is the perfect place at this time of year to take a break from everyday life and enjoy life to the full. The indulgence begins with the romantic atmosphere of the spacious spas. You read that right: spas – because the Hotel Winzer has three of them. With the Edelstein Spa, Emotion Spa and Sole Spa, no wish remains unfulfilled. Saunas, steam baths, pools, double cocoons, meditation rooms and romantic rooms ensure optimal relaxation at the hotel. But the Hotel Winzer is also the perfect starting point for day trips to the Salzkammergut or to Salzburg.
Artistic Gmunden
Just over 30 km from the Hotel Winzer lies the spa town of Gmunden on the beautiful Lake Traunsee. The town is a little gem in the Salzkammergut. Its roots date back to the year 909 AD. Gmunden’s heyday was the era of the salt trade. The historic late-Gothic buildings still bear witness to the wealth of that period. A stroll along the lakeside promenade is the best way to enjoy the town’s historic charm and the stunning lake. Furthermore, Gmunden also boasts a centuries-old tradition of ceramics production. The famous Gmunden ceramics, with their characteristic green-flamed design, are now known and loved worldwide. Every piece is a unique, handmade creation. For shopping enthusiasts, the town offers a wide selection of 100 shops at the “Salzkammergut Einkaufspark (SEP)”.
Imperial Bad Ischl
It is just under 50 km from the Hotel Winzer to Bad Ischl. The town’s modern revival began with the establishment of the summer resort in the 19th century. Wealthy tourists from the city came here to enjoy the healing waters, the clean air and the romantic natural surroundings. Emperor Franz Joseph I was so taken with Bad Ischl that he built his summer residence here. One reason for this was likely his engagement to Sissi at this very spot. As a wedding gift, the couple received a summer villa from her parents, which would later become the Imperial Villa. It is built in the shape of an ‘E’ (for Elisabeth). With the Emperor came culture and hordes of tourists to the town. The architectural remnants of this era are what give Bad Ischl its charm.
Cultural Salzburg
Just over 50 km from the Hotel Winzer lies the city of Salzburg. The city on the River Salzach offers plenty of green spaces, historic buildings, numerous churches, charming alleyways, wonderful gardens and Hohensalzburg Fortress. But apart from its historic beauty, Salzburg also has a great deal to offer culturally. In spring, for example, at the Easter Festival, and all year round at the Landestheater, the Mozarteum, the Marionette Theatre, or at the Arena, the Rockhouse, the ARGE or the Jazzit. Strolling through the old town is a special experience here. Salzburg is simply a gem. It’s also well worth a visit for shopping. Just outside the city, right by the motorway, lies the Europark with countless shops, and just one exit further on, the Designer Outlet Salzburg offers a wide selection.
