The most beautiful vantage points in the Attergau region and on Lake Attersee
2021/23/03
Fancy a spot with a panoramic view? A bit of space, a 360-degree view and a chance to take in the scenery at your feet? Then we warmly invite you to visit the most beautiful vantage points in the Attersee-Attergau region. Whether you’d like to treat yourself to a magnificent view after a stroll or a short hike, or whether you’d prefer to head straight out for a panoramic view of our picturesque landscape – we’ve got the best tips for you. Let’s set off on a tour of the five most beautiful vantage points in the Attergau!
1. The Vogl-Anna-Platzl
The Vogl-Anna-Platzl is arguably the best-known viewpoint in our home town of St. Georgen im Attergau and, as such, is just a stone’s throw from the Hotel Winzer. Take a leisurely stroll up the slopes of the Koglberg, discover the magnificent avenue on its ridge and make yourself comfortable at the central viewing point, where you’ll be rewarded with a panoramic view stretching all the way to the nearby Attersee. The local poet Anna Vogl found the lovely view from the Koglberg so enchanting that she dedicated her famous ‘Hoamat mei Attergau’ to it, which is now the anthem of our region. And the spot that inspired Anna Vogl now bears her name.
2. Lichtenberg Viewing Tower
The large viewing tower on the Lichtenberg offers the most spectacular panoramic view over the lake, fields, forests, villages and meadows of the Attergau. Just a short drive away, the wooden tower with its 208 steps awaits you and, once you’ve climbed them, offers a breathtaking panoramic view of Lake Attersee, the Dachstein, Traunstein and the Höllengebirge. Simply magical!
3. Jagastüberl on the Buchberg
If you’re a keen walker, head for the nearby Buchberg. After a short hike along the forest adventure trail in Attersee, you’ll reach the wooden Jagastüberl at 808 metres above sea level – a simple hut with a picturesque lake panorama unfolding before it. And this is certainly worth the 90-minute hike.
4. The Kronberg Chapel
The view from the Kronberg, or more precisely from the Kronberg Chapel, is no less picturesque. The only difference is that you don’t have to set off on foot here; you can reach the Kronberg Chapel quite comfortably by car. The short drive from the Hotel Winzer takes about ten minutes. And the view you’ll be rewarded with is certainly worth more than just a photo.
5. The Ahberg Chapel
The small chapel on nearby Ahberg is of cultural interest. The small, white chapel stands on a site where traces of settlement dating back thousands of years have been discovered. And: the view is nothing to be sniffed at either. Here, your gaze sweeps over the rolling hills of the Attergau – in the knowledge that this view has been enjoyed by the people of the Attergau and their guests for thousands of years.
We hope you enjoy exploring the Attergau’s vantage points. And when you return to the Hotel Winzer, our tempting culinary delights, relaxing spas and your room – which invites you to unwind and linger – will be waiting for you. We look forward to welcoming you!
