The most beautiful swimming spots on the turquoise-blue Attersee
2021/26/07
When the first rays of morning sun peek through the window in Attergau, when the scent of fresh coffee and crispy pastries fills the air, you know it’s time to enjoy life outdoors. Now it’s time to leave the daily grind behind, pack your beach bag – and head for the lake.
After all, what could be better than dipping your feet into crystal-clear water on a summer’s day whilst feeling the sun on your skin? All around the turquoise-blue Attersee, there are a multitude of stunning bathing spots – each one a little paradise in its own right. But which one is actually the most beautiful?
Plenty of space at Sprinzensteinpark
The first place that springs to mind is Sprinzensteinpark in Attersee am Attersee. It is one of the larger public bathing spots around Lake Attersee. So whilst it isn’t exactly the quietest, it is certainly one of our most beautiful. The entire park covers around 20,000 m², inviting you to relax and sunbathe. Numerous huge trees, which also provide wonderful shade on very hot days, make this bathing spot so special. If you fancy it, you can also burn off some energy with a game on the beach volleyball court, before jumping back into the cool waters of Lake Attersee.
Peace and relaxation at Kohlbauernaufsatz
No less beautiful and somewhat quieter is the ‘Kohlbauernaufsatz’ bathing spot. It is a smaller bathing spot that isn’t immediately obvious at first glance. If you drive along Seestraße from Attersee towards Unterach, you’ll find it hidden amongst hedges and trees. Peace and relaxation reign here. Spread your towel out on the grass, let the gentle breeze blow across your face and enjoy the stunning view of the Höllengebirge, which stretches along the eastern shore of Lake Attersee. The ‘Kohlbauernaufsatz’ is at its most beautiful early in the morning, when the sun’s rays make the lake sparkle and glisten.
Romance in Alexenau
Another lovely bathing spot on Lake Attersee is in Alexenau on the eastern side of the lake, between Weyregg and Steinbach. You should visit this bathing spot in the afternoon, as that is when the turquoise-blue waters of Lake Attersee are at their most striking. My tip: be sure to take a picnic basket with you and stay at the bathing spot until sunset. As the sky turns first to a delicate pink and then to a deep red, you’ll experience truly magical moments. A good glass of wine, a few summer fruits such as strawberries or blueberries, and charming company make a cosy summer’s evening in Alexenau something truly special. A gentle breeze blows, you listen to the chirping of the crickets and enjoy the play of colours in the sky before the sun disappears completely behind the Buchberg.
And after a day at the beach: a atmospheric finale
To make the evening perfect, a delicious 5-course set menu awaits you at the Hotel Winzer, near Lake Attersee. Here, you’ll be treated to more than just delicious food, as our atmospheric hotel bar awaits you afterwards, where a wide range of cocktails, such as a mojito or a piña colada, are just waiting to be savoured. And they really do taste of summer and swimming fun on Lake Attersee.
