Get active in the great outdoors with hiking, sport and e-bikes

Active in the Attergau

The Attergau has plenty to offer: stunning lakes with drinking-water quality, wonderful hiking and cycling trails through forests and mountains, idyllic villages and plenty of opportunities to get some exercise. As well as Nordic walking, hiking, running and cycling, golf, geocaching and climbing are also very popular. For some time now, e-bikes have also been a focus for our guests. No matter how active you choose to spend your free time here, one thing is certain: Attergau gets you moving!

On foot in the Attergau

You get closest to a region’s landscape and nature when you explore it on foot. This can be done whilst strolling, hiking, Nordic walking or even running. For anyone who enjoys getting out and about on foot, the Attergau offers the perfect conditions: you can go for a stroll almost anywhere here. Nature and culture are so closely intertwined that you’ll soon find yourself surrounded by greenery as you walk. In St. Georgen im Attergau, for example, you can stroll through the village, walk up to Kalvarienberg or visit the Vogl-Anna-Glücksplatzl. If you enjoy hiking, you should try one of the many hiking trails in our region. The Kelten.Baum.Weg is located right outside the Hotel Winzer

This award-winning themed trail takes hikers on a 2.5 km or 5 km journey (depending on the route) past numerous stations, offering a glimpse into the 2,000-year-old culture of the Celts. In addition, there are 11 further themed trails, 14 marked hiking trails and 4 Nordic walking circuits in the immediate vicinity. And if all that’s too slow for you, there are plenty of routes and trails for running. Take the Aumühle circuit in St. Georgen im Attergau, for example. This covers 12 km and 136 metres of elevation gain to Maulham and back. A lap of Lake Attersee is more for the pros, as 48 km isn’t exactly a walk in the park.

Discover nature by e-bike

The Hotel Winzer is ready for your e-bike excursion! You can hire modern e-bikes from our reception and explore the Attergau with ease. E-biking is simply fun! With electric assistance, you can ride comfortably over hills and through valleys and still have plenty of energy left to enjoy the surroundings. The electric boost ensures a smooth ride without breaking a sweat. Even higher peaks are easily within reach. Take, for example, the KABONG mountain bike trail, where you tackle 1,065 metres of elevation gain over 49 km. Even on longer tours, you’ll always have enough power in the battery, as the Salzkammergut boasts a well-developed network of charging stations. Even those who venture out on their bikes without an electric motor will be very satisfied with the range of cycle paths on offer.

Sporty all round

Those wishing to get active in the Attergau can do so in many ways. Take golf, for example. Just a 10-minute drive from the Hotel Winzer lies the 18-hole Attersee Golf Club near Abtsdorf. The wonderful location offers many views of Lake Attersee and the surrounding mountains. Mondsee, Drachenwand and Regau are three further courses nearby. Geocaching combines hiking with a treasure hunt. The hidden treasures (caches) are scattered throughout the Attergau and can be found using a smartphone. Things get a bit more aerial at the Attersee high ropes course. Here, balance and courage are required. Fun at lofty heights.

So, at the Hotel Winzer, you can not only relax in style, but also actively explore and enjoy the Attergau and its natural surroundings.
