Swimming right on your doorstep

The outdoor pools at the Hotel Winzer
The lake or stay at home?
Lake Attersee is close by, that’s true. It’s only a few minutes’ drive to the lake for some swimming fun. But why drive when you can enjoy a swim right on your doorstep? If you love the water, you can dive straight into the fun right in and in front of the hotel. The Hotel Winzer boasts its own natural swimming pond and a saltwater pool. Especially on hot days, you can swim undisturbed in the clean water and cool off.
The swimming pond
Our swimming pond is situated right in front of the hotel entrance and was built in 2006. Under your feet, you’ll first feel the grass of the hotel garden. As you make your way towards the water, gravel or wood will be your companions. Gravel, sand and stones border the pond towards the lawn, where high-quality sun loungers, sun swings and relaxation furniture await sun worshippers. When the sun gets too hot, one of the numerous parasols provides the welcome shade. A small wooden bridge spans a narrow section. From the wooden terrace, you can either jump into the pond or relax in the hot tub. An outdoor shower provides further refreshment. At its deepest point, the pond is approx. 1.60 m deep and therefore warms up relatively quickly. As it is unheated, the temperature depends on the weather conditions. In winter, for example, it freezes over. The pond is 13 m long and 4.5 m wide and is cleaned by a natural filtration system. The smaller but deeper filter pond is right next door. This is also where the aquatic plants essential for filtration thrive. The bottom is covered with four different grades of gravel. Water is pumped into this pond from below and then flows into the swimming pond. So nothing stands in the way of your swimming enjoyment. And don’t forget to always apply plenty of sun cream!
The saltwater pool
Our outdoor pool was only built in 2016 and is equipped with a modern filtration system that guarantees clean water even during peak swimming times. But it’s not just the salt that keeps the water clean. Salt is good for the skin and respiratory tract. If the weather isn’t playing ball, you’ll be spoilt for choice indoors. No fewer than three spas offer water in a wide variety of forms. As bathing water in the panoramic pool, indoor pool, whirlpool, the spacious ‘whirl corner’ or by the waterfall. Or as steam in steam grottos, the brine steam bath or a variety of saunas. Sporty types can try their hand at the aquabikes and then relax in the brine floating pool with underwater music.
The perfect drink by the pool
At the Hotel Winzer, summer is fun in so many ways. In the excellent hotel bar (Mark’s New York Bar), they’ll be happy to mix you a cocktail for your time by the swimming pond or pool, so that summer is a treat for the palate too. Bar manager Markus Winzer has a special recommendation ready:
Recipe: Mojito
Ingredients:
- 50 ml Cuban rum (Havana Club 3y)
- 15 ml 2:1 sugar syrup
- 20 ml lime juice (about half a lime)
- 50 ml soda water
- 2 sprigs of mint
Preparation: Place
the leaves from the mint sprigs into a tall tumbler and set aside a sprig for garnish. Gently stir the remaining ingredients with solid ice cubes and garnish with the mint sprig. Serve with a straw.
