Swimming fun on Lake Attersee
2017/21/06
Swimming, splashing about and sunbathing in the most beautiful spot!
The jewel of the water: Lake Attersee
Attersee in the Salzkammergut is idyllically situated between Mondsee and Traunsee. The water is of drinking water quality, which the many fish also appreciate. Covering an area of 46 km², Attersee is the largest lake in the Salzkammergut and is over 1.70 m deep at its deepest point. There are many public bathing spots around Attersee where you can really enjoy the cool water.
Free bathing spots
Sprinzensteinpark in the municipality of Attersee offers plenty of space to lie back (approx. 20,000 m²) under large, shady trees. As well as swimming, you can also play beach volleyball, beach soccer or table tennis here. A refreshment stand and a children’s playground round off the facilities. If you’re looking for a quieter spot, head to Kohlbauernaufsatz. This bathing spot, which is also very popular with divers, is located on the road from Attersee towards Unterach. As mentioned, it’s a bit quieter here. No special facilities get in the way of your swimming enjoyment – just the sunbathing lawn and the waters of Lake Attersee create that summer feeling. On the eastern side of Lake Attersee, between Weyregg and Steinbach, lies the Alexenau bathing spot. A little-known gem for romantic couples. Here you’ll find peace and quiet, beautiful views and turquoise-blue water.
Pay-to-enter bathing spots
The Attersee Water Park is located in the municipality of Attersee. Here, there’s swimming fun for young and old alike: long slides, a white-water channel, a waterfall, a lido, an outdoor pool, a sauna, a steam room and a solarium, as well as table tennis and a playground, offer something for everyone. Almost in the middle of Lake Attersee lies the Upper Austria State Bathing Area in Weyregg. It is a new lido where particular attention is paid to the well-being of children. A heated children’s pool, a play dragon, a playground, a water slide and two floating islands provide child-friendly entertainment here. However, the sunbathing lawn, covering approximately 6,000 m², also offers plenty of space for adults. The Schönauer lido in the north of Lake Attersee near Kammer is a quieter spot than the two mentioned above. Large trees provide pleasant shade, a long jetty leads out to a suitable swimming depth, and the sun remains clearly visible until sunset. In addition, there are many other options for water lovers, including the Seewalchen lido (with a 10-metre diving platform), the Steinach solar lido, the Unterach lido, the Nussdorf lido, the Litzlberg outdoor pool complex, the Bundesforstebad and the Europabad Weissenbach.
