HolidayCheck Award 2017 for the Hotel Winzer

What is HolidayCheck all about?

HolidayCheck is the largest German-language hotel review portal on the internet where guests rate hotels. They can share their own experiences of how much they enjoyed a hotel. HolidayCheck was founded in 1999 by two German students from Konstanz. What was new about it was that the reviews came from the guests themselves, and the aim was for as many hotels and holiday regions as possible to take part, so that all the necessary information could be bundled on one site and direct comparisons could be made. A television report in 2003 marked the definitive breakthrough. Today, HolidayCheck is Germany’s most-visited travel portal, with over 100 million page views per month. 6.8 million reviews, millions of photos and videos, and over 2 million members make HolidayCheck the most widely used platform for hotel reviews and hotel ratings.

A hard-earned award

Every year, HolidayCheck awards prizes to the world’s most popular hotels based on user reviews. Up to ten hotels per region can be honoured, and they must meet strict criteria:

• At least 90% recommendation rate
• At least 50 reviews per year
• An overall rating of at least 5.0 (out of a maximum of 6.0)
• Compliance with the HolidayCheck Code of Conduct

The HolidayCheck Code of Conduct sets out the rules for hotels. Guests who write negative reviews must not be pressured to change or withdraw their review, and reviews must not be obtained through unfair means.

The Hotel Winzer – an award-winning hotel

The coveted HolidayCheck Award 2017 went to the Hotel Winzer for the first time this year. Why? Because guests were so satisfied with our hotel that they went out of their way to vote for it. In total, over a million guest reviews were taken into account for the selection of the most popular wellness hotels, and we are naturally particularly proud to be part of that. The well-being of our guests is particularly close to our hearts, which is why we do our utmost every year to ensure our guests leave with a satisfied smile and return with eager anticipation!

Incidentally, Mark’s New York Bar at the Hotel Winzer has also been recognised. Not by HolidayCheck, but in Falstaff’s Bar & Spirit Guide 2017. 85 points earned the bar, with its special flair, 2 glasses in the Falstaff – an accolade we are naturally very pleased about.
