The HolidayCheck Special Award 2022

HolidayCheck is the largest German-language hotel review portal on the internet. Every year, this popular portal presents coveted awards to the world’s most popular hotels. In 2022, hotels were honoured by HolidayCheck with the ‘HolidayCheck Special Award’. This special award is being presented for only the second time and features selection criteria adapted to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. The award is based on at least 25 guest reviews with an average recommendation rate of at least 90 per cent and compliance with the Code of Conduct. A total of 619 hotels from 27 countries were honoured in 2022. 83 Special Awards were presented in Austria alone – a high number for such a small country! The Hotel Winzer has won the HolidayCheck Award several times before and is particularly delighted with this latest accolade!

Three glasses and 90 points from Falstaff

Our hotel bar, ‘Marks New York Bar’, has also been recognised by Falstaff for years. Falstaff is Austria’s oldest and highest-circulation wine journal and reviews wines, drinks, restaurants and bars. As with HolidayCheck, the reviews at Falstaff come from the guests themselves. This makes the final result particularly valuable to us, as it is the most honest and positive feedback one could wish for. Marks New York Bar has continued to develop since it opened. In 2016, we achieved 83 points (out of a possible 100) straight away; in 2018, we reached 87 points and two (out of four) cocktail glasses; and in 2019, we already achieved an outstanding 90 points and three cocktail glasses! The cocktail glasses are best compared to the toques in the restaurant industry. We were able to repeat the 2019 result in 2022, thereby confirming our top spot among the best Austrian hotel bars. Incidentally, Falstaff describes Marks New York Bar as a ‘bar gem’!
