Austria’s Best Leading Spa Resort

Every year, the Leading Spa Resorts website honours the best spa resorts in Europe. Having already been ranked among the top five wellness hotels in Austria with the Quality Award in 2018, we managed to improve on that in 2019 and even claimed a small crown in 2020... The coveted top prize, the “Leading Spa Award”, has gone to Hotel Winzer for the second year running!

For this, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to our satisfied guests and our hard-working staff.

In total, around 26,400 reviews were once again taken into account for the selection of the most popular wellness hotels. We are very proud of the final result, as with our exceptional spa facilities, exclusive offers for couples and our top-class service, we aim to provide our guests with dream stays and unforgettable moments. We are particularly delighted that our high standards are so well received by our guests.

Top 10 on HolidayCheck

HolidayCheck is the largest German-language hotel review portal on the internet, where guests rate their stays. Based on these user reviews, the world’s most popular hotels are identified and awarded.

Under the newly created HolidayCheck Special Award 2021, up to ten hotels per region can be honoured if they achieve at least 25 reviews per year, a recommendation rate of at least 90%, and an average rating of at least 5.0 (out of a maximum of 6.0). Last year, we managed to improve on this even further and, with an average rating of 5.9, were named one of the ten best hotels in Upper Austria. For this, we were once again honoured with the HolidayCheck Award.

What makes the Hotel Winzer so special?

The Hotel Winzer in St. Georgen im Attergau is the cosy and wellness hotel for couples. In recent years, we have invested heavily in expanding the wellness area, meaning that today we can call ourselves one of the largest and most beautiful hotel spas in Austria. Spanning a total of approx. 5,000 m², a true wellness kingdom unfolds both indoors and outdoors, featuring no fewer than three spacious spas. The vast array of wellness facilities is unrivalled: twelve saunas and steam baths, eight pools and whirlpools (ten in summer), fourteen luxurious relaxation areas and oases of calm, right through to a comprehensive range of professional treatments in more than 20 treatment rooms. We also prioritise wellness in our exclusively appointed rooms. Here, whirlpools and infrared cabins are available for your own private wellness enjoyment. High quality, pure relaxation and exclusive added value for our guests are our top priorities.

One of Austria’s best bars

Incidentally, Marks New York Bar at the Hotel Winzer has also been recognised by Falstaff for years. Falstaff is Austria’s oldest and highest-circulation wine journal, rating wines, drinks, restaurants and bars. Marks New York Bar has consistently improved its rating. In 2016, we achieved 83 points (out of a possible 100) straight away. In 2018 and 2019, we achieved 87 points and two (out of four) cocktail glasses. In 2021, we are delighted to have received an outstanding 90 points and three cocktail glasses! This means we have joined the elite of Austria’s bar scene and can rightly call ourselves one of the top 3 bars in Upper Austria!

We are particularly pleased about this, as a passion for cocktails and bar culture is a personal passion of Markus Winzer. Let’s raise a glass to that!
