7 things to do at Lake Attersee in summer – apart from swimming
2021/13/07
Turquoise-blue water, gentle waves, white boats against a blue backdrop, and the sun shining just as brightly as your holiday cheer: a summer’s day on Lake Attersee is something truly special. Although the largest of all the Salzkammergut lakes is best known for its picturesque bathing beaches, it has much more to offer when it comes to fun on the water: here are our seven top tips for water lovers on how to spend a day at Lake Attersee. We can reveal one thing right away: it’s going to be active!
1. Boat hire
As beautiful as Lake Attersee is from the shore – experiencing it from a boat makes it even more beautiful. Hire a pedal boat or electric boat, set sail out into the turquoise-blue waves and watch the bathers on the shore, who eventually become as small as ants. You’ll find boat hire outlets right in the village of Attersee am Attersee at the central landing stage, in Seewalchen am Attersee on the promenade by the lido, or on Seestraße in Nussdorf am Attersee.
2. Sailing
Those who are already a bit more sea-worthy will find excellent conditions for a sailing trip on Lake Attersee thanks to the famous Rosenwind. And anyone wishing to venture out onto the waters of Lake Attersee in a sailing boat for the first time is in particularly good hands at one of the local sailing schools. You can obtain your basic sailing licence at the Attersee Sailing School in as little as five days of lessons.
2. Surfing
Things get a bit more action-packed on a surfboard. You, your surfboard, the elements and a thrilling ride across the water. Sound like your sort of thing? The local surf schools will be happy to look after you, offering courses for beginners and advanced surfers, as well as surfboard hire.
4. Water skiing
Whether it’s classic water skiing, tubing, a banana boat or wakeboarding – fans of high speeds will also get their money’s worth at Lake Attersee. And with the well-trained and competent instructors at the local water skiing schools, even kids can zip across the water in a flash.
5. Fishing
When it comes to fishing, it’s all about practising calm, patience and relaxation. Holders of a valid fishing licence can purchase a day or week’s licence to fish on Lake Attersee and enjoy a unique fish population including lake trout, char and pike. And even if nothing takes the bait: the sweeping view across the lake is worth lingering over for a while, even without a rod.
6. Diving
A dive opens up entirely new perspectives on the underwater world of Lake Attersee. Silence, weightlessness, deep blue waters and the lake’s unique biodiversity make a diving trip unforgettable. And the region’s highly competent and multi-certified diving schools ensure the best training and maximum safety for your underwater adventure in the blue waters of Lake Attersee.
7. Attersee Aquarium
Are you fascinated by fish, but find diving a bit too action-packed? No problem. At the Attersee Aquarium in Weyregg am Attersee, you can also experience the lake’s wildlife up close – whilst staying dry. A visit to the 4.5-metre-long, 9,000-litre aquarium is free of charge.
Which of our Attersee adventures is your favourite? Whatever you choose, as soon as you return from your dip in the cool water, the Hotel Winzer awaits you with fine dining, three pampering wellness areas and the incomparable Winzer services. And we look forward to welcoming you.
